What are Steel Piles?

You can also refer to STEEL PILINGS as a section of steel rolled into a made-up shape or a sheet.  STEEL PILINGS can act as an interconnection between two sheets to come together as a box shape. They can form a single pile of too large loads.

Advantages of Using STEEL PILINGS

Common types of steel Piles

What are H-piles?

This way the cleaning and screening of the soil become easy during the progression of construction.

Moreover, if during the construction the desired depth is way far than the usual, and the machines are encountering some obstructions like boulders, then they can chop off some bits and pieces.

If they encounter even larger obstructions, then they can use pipes that have fixed diameters and remove the excess material by blasting. When the soil seems impure and it becomes impossible to clean the soil, the company can use closed-end pipes to avoid this situation.

Connection of steel piles

H-piles usually combined in the same way as steel columns do.  With the help of equipment that is available, and taking suggestions from the engineering team, these piles can spice together with the help of bolting and welding.

If the welded part locates above the surface of the ground or the above design needs to carry some complicated engineering design then the splice of steel pipe must act in resisting stresses that might arise due to such possibilities.

In normal conditions, when the design is not of much complexity, the amount of stress that a pile needs to suffer gets very less. When driving a pile, it can lose its shape when any impact takes place. This allows the pile to have a bending moment. It is necessary to design the piles in such a way that the pile resists the impact by allowing no bending moments. Only a pile having strength can avoid such a situation and is reasonable in the long run.

Corrosion in Steel Piles

When dealing with piles, corrosion can be very problematic.  In order to avoid the effects of corrosion, there are a few ways to protect these Steel pilings. The following will help in keeping steel piles as much safe as possible.

Additional Thickness

Many companies swear by this step. This method employs the use of added thickness in piles. They incorporate an added thickness. Usually, this thickness is 1 by 16th of an inch. This section adds to the strength of the pile.

To achieve this, the actual depth of the metal must reduce by 1 by 16th of an inch. With the help of computation, the pile must have the capacity to apply an added wall of steel into the file length for avoiding corrosion in places most likely to deal with rust.

Removal of corrosive soils

Another way of avoiding corrosion is by using non-corrosive soil. If the site has organic soil, cinder fills, un-burnt carbon, and industrial waste then it is imperative to replace this with soils that are non-corrosive. It is a very economical method when the site has a shallow quantity of soil.  But, otherwise, this can lead to very expensive accumulation due to the amount of soil involved in deep depth sites.

Concrete encasement

When the surface of the ground and soil do not have deep depths, they can get protection from the outer encasing with the help of concrete. Encasing the surface with concrete is very effective yet very expensive when it comes to sites that have deep soil depths.
